I've had loads of "favorite" photos. Some have been long-time favorites. Some I look at and realize that maybe they're not as good as I once thought they were. This, I guess, is the result of working, making mistakes, learning, practicing, and occasionally upgrading. Maybe some hand-wringing and cursing thrown in, too. So while I'm always trying to get ""The Shot", I really believe that there are lots of "The Shots" out there waiting for me.
Funny, I decided on this shot of a gladiolus for this first blog post, rather than the sports shots that I love so much. My dad grew glads, and now so do I. They're glorious to photograph. Maybe a little tricky. This shot is the result of positioning a very long stem dozens of different ways and taking hundreds of different shots until I got it filling the frame the way I wanted.
I like looking at it. I like to think my dad would too.
